A Paniel is an automaton designed to aid humans by PnL Industry, an interstellar corporation.
Because of their exceptional performance, durability, and loyalty, everyone in the Glitterworld wanted to get Paniels:
from regular households, military forces, large companies, and even to the royalties
- until an anonymous whistleblower uncovered their secrets.
The main ingredient of the brain cores was the humans' central nervous system, and the fuel for the Paniels was loaded with psychoactive substances to stabilize their newly formed personalities.
After being exposed, PnL Industry left all of its business behind and ran away to the Rimworld.
Although many of their trade secrets were leaked and properties were lost, PnL Industry managed to survive.
They still live by selling what they had left to whom they didn't even consider as customers before.
PnL Industry is waiting for the right moment to return to the Glitterworld when everyone would have forgotten about the whole mess.
The Automaton Crafting Table enables the crafting of Paniels. It requires metals, automaton skin, chemfuel, components/advanced components, and the automaton brain core/central nerve system.
(Brain cores are sold by PnL traders and trader ships. and Central nerve system can be harvested from other humanoids after researching.)
The metal chosen upon crafting determines the basic protection stats.
The appearance will be randomly chosen out of the four types.
- Specialization and Skills
A Paniel can specialize in one of the three choices: combat, engineer, and domestic.
Specialization determines the skills and incapabilities.
Their skill level will not improve nor fall.
(A special implement may remove skill fixation but will remove the Automaton Quality buff as well.)
Ratio of components to advanced components decide the probabilty of the final product's quality, ranging from awful to legendary.
Higher quality Paniels have higher base stats and higher specialized skill levels.
(Resetting quality probabilities with save and load is blocked.)
Paniels cannot be tended using regular medicine. They can only be patched up with no medicine and will have a very slow recovery speed.
Instead, they can be fully repaired with a Repair Kit. They can also fix themselves using the Self-repair Kit.
- Immune to Diseases
Paniels do not have an immune system as humans do, for automata do not suffer from diseases like them.
They are immune to most vanilla diseases (Except for diseases involving the brain and nervous system), but they have close to no immunity.
If Paniel needs immunity (diseases added by mod, etc.), automaton antibiotics can be used to boost immunity in a short period of time.
- Entertain-based Buff
Paniels work harder after playing harder.
- Traits Adjusted
All Paniels have the Kind trait. and They will never have some of the vanilla traits.
- Thoughts Adjusted
Paniels' mood may be affectec differently from humans.
For example, they will not gain negative thoughts from sleeping on the floor or in a barrack.
- Research Penalty
A Paniel's researching speed is 10% of a human.
- Requires Fuel
A Paniel requires one unit of PnL Fuel per day. If the fuel runs out, it will stop working.
(PnL Fuel requires psychoid leaves and chemfuel.)
- Requires Food
A Paniel also eats one meal a day, just like humans. Although it requires far less nutrients, a limited digestive system requires it to eat just as much.
- Requires Maintenance
A Paniel requires regular maintenance. Maintenance provides all stats buff for a short period.
It will slow down if a Paniel does not get maintenance for an extended time, just like an old machine.
(Maintenance also increase when repairing or using self-repair kits.)
- Explosive Death
A Paniel's corpse will explode after some time.
(An implement that uses resurrection mech serum can bring Paniel back to life.)
- New Apparels
Adds 7 race-specific apparels. Only Paniels may wear them.
(Some apparels require PnL components sold by PnL traders and trade ships.)
- New Weapons
Adds 11 (+2 Royalty persona weapons) new weaponeries by PnL Industry.
(Which some may only be equipped only by Paniels.)
- New Artillery
Adds an howitzer that fires with high accuracy and firerate.
It can only be loaded with one of newly added 6 types of cluster shells, anti-grain artillery shells, and armor-piercing artillery shells.
(Like vanilla's mortar barrel, howitzer require a brain core to use.)
- Adds Module System (requires Ideology)
Adds modules to install, which provides special buffs and abilities.
- Traders/Trade Ships
Adds PnL Orbital Trade Ships and Salespeople, which they sell Paniel related products.
(PnL Salespeople are civil outlander union.
- New Scenario Added
Adds a new naked brutality scenario, which you start with a special Paniel.
(Research penalty does not apply to the first Paniel.)
- SOS2 : Apparels serve as EVA (Except for basic and militia clothing.)
- CE : compatibility patch is not included. Because I'm not a CE user, I do not plan on making a compatibility patch.
