Since it uses Apparel hediff which implemented for blindfold in 1.3, it'll only work in 1.3.
NPC factions including Raiders can spawned with insect equipment.
The Armor/Helmet below can be crafted in crafting spot, and smithing table.
Requires no research.
If you have ideology, and have Precept: insectoid meat lover. those mood debuffs from Armor/helmet will have additional mood buff.
Now Precept : taming insectoid:loved, and Precept : Insectoid slaughter : abhorrent on improved insectoid mod will get additional mood buff too.
Megaspider Armor : Requires 1 Megaspider.
+ High protection similar to platearmor
+ Less slow movespeed debuff(-0.53) compare tor platearmor(-0.8)
+ minor Negotiation Ability buff
- minor Social impact debuff
- mood debuff when worn(-3)
- 65% durability of platearmor
Megaspider Helmet : Requires 1 Megaspider.
+ High protection similar to simple helmet
+ Less slow movespeed debuff(-0.53) compare tor platearmor(-0.8)
+ minor Negotiation Ability buff
- minor Social impact debuff
- mood debuff when worn(-2)

1 Megascarab Corpse, 35 Metallic or Woody resources. 3 Crafting skill to craft.
+ Medium blunt damage with its head
