The Genshin Impact 2.1 update is getting closer, which means that players should expect a lot of new information and even mechanics to appear in the game. On the broadcast, the developers showed us fishing and a new event called the Moon Kingdom, which will be dedicated to it. 

One of the new events in Patch 2.1 is Fishing, in which players will experience new mechanics and will be able to receive unusual exclusive rewards such as various fishing rods or the exclusive swordfish "Blessed Lord of the Waters".

How do I get a fishing rod?

Players will be able to get the first fishing rod during the event - there we will meet the new NPC Kujirai Momiji, who will help us get it. In update 2.1, we will receive several types of fishing rods at once, each of which is tied to a specific region and has special effects that will simplify and speed up the fishing process. Here are a few:

How to catch fish?

To fish, you will need to grab a fishing rod, special bait and find a spot that will be marked with a slight glow or ripples in the water. There will also be several baits, and they will all have their own characteristics. Moreover, they can be combined with different rods and much more.

The types of fish you can catch depend on the type of bait. For example, you cannot catch special fish with regular bait. Also, "decorative" species will be added to the game, which you can literally settle in your Teapot - for this a special pond is provided, which was also shown on the air:

The very same fishing mechanics will be a bit like cooking:

• Hold down the cast button to aim, and let it go to cast. Try to aim the hook near a fish, but not so close that you scare it away.
• Once the fish takes the bait, press the ‘raise hook’ button – a bar will appear at the top showing your line tension.
• To reel the fish in, keep the line tension in the yellow highlighted zone.
• You can adjust your tension by holding and releasing the button.
• The circle beneath the bar shows your fishing progress – it will automatically complete while you have the tension in the yellow zone, and deplete when your tension is outside the zone.
• When it depletes entirely, the tension bar turns red. The fish is perilously close to escaping, so adjust your tension to prevent this from happening.
• When the bar turns orange, that means the fish is struggling intensely, and line tension will change more quickly.
